GOLDEN, Colo. - Giselle Sawaged's first-half goal held up as the game's only score as Colorado School of Mines beat Cal State San Bernardino, 1-0.
Shannon Mooney made four saves - including several crucial stops in the second half - to run her scoreless streak to 356 minutes. The Mines backline held CSUSB to one shot in the first half and six overall as Mines (3-1) outshot the Coyotes (2-2-1) 12-6.
Sawaged's goal was the only result from a measured first half as the midfielder dispossessed a defender and beat goalkeeper Destiny Collins to the far post at 34:44.
Both teams had scoring chances in the second half, none better than the Coyotes' Rachael Figg hitting the bar in the 72nd minute, as Mooney made three of her four stops after halftime. Collins had five saves overall.
Mines opens RMAC play this weekend, visiting MSU Denver Friday night.
