GOLDEN, Colo. - #19 Colorado School of Mines split its final day of the Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott Oredigger Classic, beating Western New Mexico 3-0 before falling to #24 Northern State 3-1.
Abby Tiesman had a huge day, hitting for 12 kills in the opener before drilling a career-high 17 while hitting .429 against NSU.
Ellie Monarch continued her outstanding tournament combining for 25 kills on Saturday and hitting .603 for the weekend.
Mines ended the tournament 3-1 overall.

Mines opened Saturday by cruising to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-16) win over Western New Mexico.
The Orediggers hit .406 against their former conference foes led by double-digit kills from
Lindsey Jin (13), Tiesman (12), Monarch (11), and
LaRose Currie (10), with all four hitting .444 or better.
Marina Hansen had a terrific match with 42 assists in three sets, adding two blocks and five digs to power the offense.
Hailey Babcock's 16 digs were a career high, and Currie notched a double-double with 11 digs to go with her 10 kills.
#24 Northern State 3, #19 Mines 1
In a top-25 match-up to cap the Classic, Northern State bounced back from a set down to win 22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-23.
Mines ran into hot hitting by NSU as the Wolves hit .571 in the second and .480 in the third to turn the momentum around, on the way to a .377 clip for the match.
Tiesman hit a career-high 17 kills (.429), and Monarch added 14. Currie had her second double-double of the day with 11 kills and as many digs, while Hansen recorded 51 assists to go with seven digs.
Next Up
Mines heads to UCCS next weekend for the Steel & Silver Classic starting Friday.
