GOLDEN, Colo. - A dominant display in every phase of the game gave #14 Colorado School of Mines a 4-0 win over New Mexico Highlands in RMAC women's soccer play Friday night.
A
Jennifer Kendall brace and goals by
Laya Rybicki and
Taylor McRae provided the scoring as the Orediggers (6-1-1, 3-0-1 RMAC) outshot the Cowgirls (1-5-2, 1-2-1 RMAC) by a massive 36-2 margin.
Kendall got things going quickly with a goal in the seventh minute, finishing a fine forward pass by
Acacia Ortiz, then buried her own rebounded shot in the 22nd minute to make it 2-0. Rybicki scored five minutes later, hitting it with pace off
Mickey Hostetler's long cross, and McRae tagged one in the 50th minute, taking a ball across the goal mouth from
Haley Cole after
Emily Garnier's free kick rebounded out.
Shannon Mooney had one save in picking up her fifth shutout of the season as the Mines backline allowed only one shot in each half. NMHU starter Brianna Ruelas departed after the opening goal, with substitute Katherine Scott making 18 saves in 83:29 of work.
Mines hosts CSU-Pueblo Sunday for a noon start.
