#6 Mines Dominates In 3-0 Win At Midwestern State

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - #6 Colorado School of Mines picked up its first win of the season, shutting down Midwestern State in a 3-0 shutout.

Emily Townsend, Nicole LaTourette, and Brooke Stoermer provided the scoring as the Mines (1-1) defense held MSU (1-1) without a shot over the opening hour on the way to a 19-3 shots advantage.

Shannon Mooney made two saves to pick up her first career shutout.

Townsend got Mines on the board in the 21st minute, rising up to head in Emily Garnier's long free kick. The game stayed 1-0 until the 72nd minute when LaTourette slotted in Hannah Stoner's cross, and Stoermer pounced on an out-of-position goalkeeper to convert a loose ball in the 85th minute.

Mines will open up at home on Friday, hosting #10 UC San Diego at 7:30 p.m.
