THIS WEEK
The Orediggers (7-2) will host a pair of home RMAC duals this week as they bring in New Mexico Highlands (1-4) and #21 Adams State (1-7). Mines will face NMHU Thursday night on Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night, taking on a tough Cowboys team that will wrestle at Chadron State on Wednesday night; ASU comes Saturday at 2 p.m. with a 1-7 record, but is ranked #21 by the NWCA with five of their losses coming to top-25 teams and three of those by a single point. Saturday will be Senior Day for the Orediggers.
LAST WEEK
The Orediggers saw their perfect start snapped with losses at #17 Western State and Colorado Mesa. At WSCU, Mines received wins from
Jake Woods and
Jake Feldman, while at Mesa, the Orediggers split matches 5-5 on wins from Zach Gracia,
Noah Au-Yeung,
Keenan Willits,
Connor Ventura, and
Anthony Spallino, but bonus points pushed CMU over the top 20-18.
WORKING OVERTIME
Mines wrestlers are a combined 5-1 in overtime matches this season, including an impressive 3-0 by
Jake Woods.
LEADING THE WAY
Mines' top dual scorer this season has been
Keenan Willits, who is 7-1 in duals and has scored 33 points.
TJ Shelton (28 points) is right behind him, with
Noah Ottum scoring 26. Overall,
Jake Woods' 18-4 record leads the team in wins followed by
Weston Hunt at 16-4; Hunt's seven pins is a team best while Ottum and Willits share the tech fall lead with three. Hunt has a team-best 12 bonus-point wins overall.
