Wrestling Endowments

The support of alumni and friends of Mines Wrestling enable current student-athletes to succeed both on the mat and in the classroom. Your support is critical to help Oredigger wrestlers excel at Mines and beyond.
If you are interested in supporting one of these current endowments, or establishing a new one, please contact Head Wrestling Coach Austin DeVoe (adevoe@mines.edu).

The Jack Hancock Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by Dan Lewis, Colorado School of Mines' head wrestling coach from 1992 to 2002 and from 2008 to 2010. The purpose of the endowed scholarship fund is to provide one-year awards to undergraduates who earned wrestling honors in high school or who are currently on the Mines wrestling team. The fund is named in honor of Hall of Fame coach Jack Hancock, who was the Orediggers' head coach from 1955 to 1992.

The Grinder Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 by Ed Gallegos, a 1992 engineering alumnus and 1991 All-American wrestler (1991). The fund provides scholarship awards to undergraduate or graduate students who are part of the wrestling team, and who have completed at least 24 credit hours at Mines. Preference is given to students who have previously earned wrestling honors in high school, college or students currently on the Mines wrestling team.

The Houston Orediggers Academic Scholarship was established by Jody Trantham, a 2001 mechanical engineering alumnus and member of the wrestling team while at Mines. The fund was established to provide financial aid in the form of scholarship awards to undergraduate and transfer students.

The Don Meyers Wrestling Endowed and Current Use Scholarship Funds were established by the children of Donald Meyers, Gina and Daniel Meyers, in his memory. Don graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1963 with a professional degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. He was a 1961 All-American wrestler and a valued member of the wrestling team.

The Schiff Endowed Wrestling Scholarship Fund was created in 2024 for the purpose of providing financial aid in the form of scholarship awards to undergraduate students enrolled at Mines.Â
