2018 All-RMAC Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS
– Led by Defensive Player of the Year Emily Townsend and Coach of the Year Kevin Fickes, regular-season champion Colorado School of Mines has seven honorees on the annual all-RMAC teams.

Townsend was joined by Nicole LaTourette and Jennifer Kendall as First-Team All-RMAC picks, while Hannah Stoner earned a Second-Team All-RMAC nod and Shannon Mooney and Peyton Sanders picked up Honorable Mention All-RMAC status.

Fickes guided Mines to the second perfect RMAC season in program history, earning the outright regular-season title at 13-0-0. The Orediggers were 16-1-1 overall and have consistently been ranked in the national top 10, including a season high of #4 last week. Mines did all that despite losing three of their top four point-scorers from 2017. It is Fickes' third RMAC Coach of the Year honor.

Townsend continues a legacy of Oredigger defensive stars, earning the program's fifth consecutive RMAC Defensive Player of the Year award after Nicho Cusack (2014) and Emily Garnier (2015-17). The senior center back has led Mines to the nation's #5-ranked goals-against average (0.33) and #4 shutout percentage (.722); both are the best in the RMAC. The Oredigger backline allows only 6.2 shots and 2.6 shots on goal per game. A dangerous aerial option on set pieces, Townsend has also produced four goals on offense including a pair of gamewinners. It is Townsend's third consecutive First-Team All-RMAC nod.

Kendall, a senior forward, continued her prodigious scoring pace in 2018 to lead the Mines offense. Kendall enters the postseason with a team-best eight goals and four assists, ranking sixth in the RMAC in scoring. Her four game-winners are a team high, including a golden goal at UCCS. It is second consecutive First-Team All-RMAC nod for the senior.

LaTourette, a junior midfielder, had a breakout 2018 season scoring seven goals with two assists. An Honorable Mention All-RMAC pick a year ago, LaTourette is second on the team and ninth in the RMAC in scoring. Her season includes a hat trick against Black Hills State. LaTourette has been a key "super sub" for Mines, scoring six of her seven goals when coming off the bench this season.

Stoner, a senior forward, earns her first career RMAC honor after matching her career highs in goals (3) and points (7). She scored twice in RMAC play against New Mexico Highlands and MSU Denver, the latter of which was the game-winning goal. Another go-to bench scoring option for the Orediggers, all three of her goals this season have come playing as a sub.

Mooney, a junior, earns her first career RMAC award after a standout season between the posts. The RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 9, Mooney owns the RMAC's best GAA (.35) and second-best save percentage (.864). Her 15 wins and 11 shutouts both lead the RMAC, as well. Her season high of six saves came in a win over CSU-Pueblo as she made 38 stops overall while allowing only six goals this season. Mooney is 10th in NCAA D-II in GAA, as well.

Sanders, a senior midfielder, also earns her first RMAC honor after matching the best season production of her career. Sanders has three goals and an assist in 2018, scoring gamewinners against Adams State and Westminster as she started 13 times in 15 appearances. All three of Sanders' goals came in a consecutive-games stretch that also included a strike against Fort Lewis.
