GOLDEN, Colo. - Five players scored in double digits as Colorado School of Mines cruised past Haskell Indian Nations, 95-69, on Saturday at Lockridge Arena.
The Orediggers evened their season record at 3-3 led by
Ben Sonnefeld's 19-point, seven-assist night,
Michael Glen's 18 points, and
Joe Miks' career-high 16 off the bench.
Mines had little trouble producing offensively, shooting 47.8 percent for the game with 11 three-pointers and a solid 18-of-21 night at the line. The Orediggers led by as much as 32 in the second half after taking a big early lead and never letting the Indians (3-3) get into the game.
Mines never trailed as
Mason Baker hit the game-opening three-pointer, and a later dunk by
Ben Clare capped a 12-3 run to open the contest. The Orediggers never looked back after that as a Sonnefeld trifecta midway through the first sparked a 13-2 run that put Mines up 34-15 later in the half on the way to a 49-24 advantage at the break.
The Oredigger lead never dipped below 22 in the second half despite an improved 17-for-34 shooting half for Haskell. Nakia Hendricks led the Indians with 17 points.
