2018 D2CCA All-America Teams

POMONA, Calif. –
The Colorado School of Mines Men's Soccer duo of John Haist and Jason Zobott netted all-America nods Wednesday as the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and United Soccer Coaches unveiled their 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-America teams.

Haist claimed D2CCA first-team honors and United Soccer Coaches third-team distinction for the second straight year. Zobott earned the first all-America award of his career as a second-team selection. The announcement marks the seventh time in the last nine years that the Colorado School of Mines Men's Soccer team has placed at least one Oredigger on an all-America team. In its history, Mines men's soccer has had 10 individuals earn 16 all-America nods from the D2CCA.

Haist's incredible resume includes back-to-back D2CCA South Central Regional Player of the Year, D2CCA First-Team All-Region, United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-Region, RMAC Tournament MVP, First-Team All-RMAC, RMAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Preseason All-RMAC and multiple RMAC Offensive Player of the Week awards. The Englishman led the RMAC in scoring with 52 points on 23 goals and six assists. He currently leads NCAA Division II with eight game-winning goals on the year while ranking #2 in the nation in total goals and total points. Haist is the active leading scorer across all divisions of the NCAA with 146 points and 65 goals in his career. The striker owns Mines' single-season records for goals, points, shots, shots on goals and game-winning goals. He is also the Orediggers' all-time leader in total shots and game-winning goals. Haist's career goals and points numbers trail only Tesho Akindele who is now a striker for FC Dallas of the MLS.

Zobott's all-America selection follows a pair of all-region nods. The junior's 2018 resume includes D2CCA First-Team All-Region, United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-Region, RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-RMAC and RMAC All-Tournament. While his stats weren't gaudy, Zobott led a defense that produced the longest shutout streak in Mines history, spanning over 590 minutes and eight matches. The Illinois native finished the season with one assist but helped the Orediggers' defense post the second-lowest goals against average in program history 0.70 goals surrendered per game. Zobott also performed in the classroom as he was named RMAC First-Team All-Academic and CoSIDA Academic All-District to go along with his two RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

As a team, Mines finished the season 18-2-1, clinching its eighth RMAC regular-season crown in program history and hoisting its eighth RMAC Tournament cup while advancing to the Orediggers' eighth NCAA Tournament appearance. In addition to the longest shutout streak in program history, Mines also produced the longest winning streak in program history with 12 straight wins. The Orediggers did not lose a game in 70 days (Sept. 3 – Nov. 11). With postseason action still in progress, Mines currently ranks #1 in NCAA Division II in shots per game, #4 in shots on goal per game, #6 in win-loss-tied percentage and #9 in total goals.

Mines' season came to a close with a 2-0 loss to #13 West Texas A&M in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Stermole Stadium. The Orediggers are slated to return all but three seniors for the 2019 season. Fans can keep up with all the postseason awards at www.MinesAthletics.com.
