Learfield Directors' Cup Standings
WESTLAKE, Ohio - Colorado School of Mines tops the final fall Learfield Directors' Cup standings for NCAA Division II, measuring the top athletic departments in the nation.
Mines tallied 340 points as the only school in NCAA Division II to qualify six teams for NCAA Championship tournaments. Those six included top-five finishes for men's cross country (2nd, 90 points) and women's cross country (5th, 75 points) as well as appearances by women's soccer, men's soccer, and volleyball, who all made their NCAA second rounds to earn 50 points. Football, which is the only additional sport to be included in the final fall ranking, earned 25 points for its NCAA first-round appearance.
Grand Valley State is second with 315 points, followed by Western Washington (256), West Chester (220), and Shippensburg (218). UCCS was the next RMAC team on the list in 12th (180.5) with Adams State and Western Colorado tied for 17th (165).
It is the second consecutive fall that Mines has been first in the fall Learfield Directors' Cup rankings. The Orediggers finished sixth overall last spring, the highest finish in program history.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
