NFFCC All-Colorado Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS -
Offensive Player of the Year Cameron Mayberry and Coach of the Year Gregg Brandon lead Colorado School of Mines on the year-end National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter all-state football teams announced Friday.

The Orediggers earned eight all-NFFCC honors in all, including six first-team nods. The NFFCC considers nominees from all 10 of Colorado's NCAA football programs, regardless of division.

Mayberry landed a spot on the NFFCC First Team along with quarterback Isaac Harker, wide receiver Brody Oliver, tackle Grant Stewart, and guard Jason Van de Graaf, while outside linebacker Logan Bock earned a first-team defensive slot. Guard Joey Roselli and defensive tackle Brockton Sterling took home second-team honors.

Brandon was named the NFFCC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. Also the 2018 RMAC Coach of the Year, Brandon led the Orediggers to the 2018 RMAC co-championship and an NCAA Championship berth. Mines ranked as high as #6 in the AFCA Top 25 after being unranked in preseason, ending at #18. Mines had NCAA Division II's #1 total offense (556.8 yards per game), #2 passing offense (331.9 yards per game), and #3 scoring offense (47.2 points per game).

A Harlon Hill Trophy nominee, Mayberry took home offensive player of the year honors in the latest award for the junior running back. An Associated Press Second-Team All-American, Mayberry was also named D2CCA Second-Team All-Super Region 4, First-Team All-RMAC, RMAC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 17, Nov. 12) and NFFCC Colorado Player of the Week (Nov. 12). Mayberry was Colorado's leading rusher by nearly 500 yards, rushing for 1,615 yards (a Mines single-season record) and 23 touchdowns (tying the Mines season record that has stood since 1939). He became Mines' career yardage leader during the season as a junior, while averaging 6.0 yards per carry and 134.58 yards per game. Mayberry ran for 100+ yards eight times and 200+ three times. He scored at least one touchdown in every game, including three against CSU-Pueblo and Azusa Pacific.

Oliver, an Associated Press First-Team All-American, was the NCAA Division II leader in touchdown receptions with 21 as a senior as he capped off a record-shattering career. A First-Team All-Region and All-RMAC pick, Oliver caught 73 passes for 1,339 yards and 21 touchdowns, twice earning him NFFCC Player of the Week honors (Sept. 3, Oct. 15). He set the RMAC record for career touchdown catches (59) and became the Mines recordholder and only the second RMAC receiver to cross 4,000 career yards, ending with 4,010. He also ended his career as the Mines leader in yards per catch (17.9) and scoring (354). Oliver went over 100 yards receiving nine times in 11 games, including 174 at Black Hills State, 145 against Chadron State, and 135 at New Mexico Highlands, and had multiple touchdowns in six games, including a Mines record-tying five against Adams State and four at Fort Lewis.

Harker, a graduate transfer, made a huge impact in his only season as an Oredigger as Colorado's leading passer in 2018. He led the Centennial State by more than 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns as he threw for 3,858 yards and 39 touchdowns with a 67 percent completion rate. The NFFCC Player of the Week on Oct. 29, he led Mines to NCAA D-II's #2 passing offense and #1 total offense, and ranked in the national top five in virtually every passing category including TDs (1st), yards (2nd), yards per game (2nd), completion percentage (4th), and total offense (4th). Harker was a D2CCA Second-Team All-Super Region 4 and Second-Team All-RMAC pick and was also a three-time RMAC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 10, Oct. 1, Oct. 29).

Bock led the Mines defense as a high-energy gamechanger at outside linebacker. A nominee for the Cliff Harris Award, Bock was a First-Team All-RMAC selection, compiling 47 total tackles and leading the team with 12.0 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. He was part of a team-high five turnovers - three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception - and had a 90-yard fumble return for a touchdown against CSU-Pueblo in the regular season, which stood up as the longest play of the year for Mines on either side of the ball. He also accounted for two safeties this season. His top individual game was that CSU-Pueblo win where he produced 10 total tackles (3.0 for a loss) with 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, the return for a touchdown, and a pass break-up, all of which earned him RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The trio of Stewart, Van de Graaf, and Roselli anchored one of the nation's best offensive lines in 2018. The line allowed only 11 sacks in 11 regular-season games, and they powered NCAA Division II's #1 total offense (578.2 yards per game) with the #2 passing offense (336.2 ypg) and #22 rushing offense (224.9 ypg). In addition to Mayberry's record-breaking season, Brandon Farmer crossed the 500-yard mark with 560 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, and Harker also scored three times on the ground with 142 net yards. All three were all-RMAC as Stewart was First-Team (as well as D2CCA Second-Team All-Region) and Van de Graaf and Roselli Second-Team.

Sterling, a junior, was a Second-Team All-RMAC selection as he led the Mines defensive line in tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks. Sterling put up 42 total tackles with 10 solo stops, 7.5 stops for a loss, and 5.0 sacks to go with four hurries, a batted pass, and a kick block. His top production games were a six-tackle, 2.0-TFL, 1.0-sack effort at Western Colorado, and a six-tackle, 1.5-TFL game in the NCAA Championship First Round against CSU-Pueblo.

CSU-Pueblo linebacker Brandon Payer won the NFFCC's Defensive Player of the Year award, while Colorado State punter Ryan Stonehouse was the NFFCC Special Teams Player of the Year.
