DENVER - Back-to-back three-pointers by
Michael Glen put Colorado School of Mines ahead as they took over late to beat MSU Denver, 66-64, in the regular season finale.
The Orediggers (21-7, 15-7 RMAC) end as the #3 seed for the RMAC Tournament and will host UCCS on Tuesday in a quarterfinal at 7:30Â p.m.
Zach Rusk was the spark Mines needed off the bench as the senior had one of the finest games of his career with 16 points, four assists, two steals, and six rebounds in 32 minutes.
Ben Sonnefeld also had 16 points and added two steals and two assists as he went 8-for-10 from the line.
Adam Laine ended on 10 points.
It was a frustrating game for Glen, who was just 2-for-3 from the floor, but his two made baskets were both critical three-pointers for Mines. After a back-and-forth first half saw MSU Denver lead 38-34, the hosts extended their lead to as much as 12 in the second half before a 19-7 Mines run ended the game. Glen keyed that with two straight three-pointers, first with 2:26 left to cut the deficit to two, and then with 57 seconds remaining to take Mines's first lead since the opening half.
Ben Sonnefeld then made three of four free throws in the final minutes around a Cam Williams layup for the Roadrunners to seal the victory. MSU Denver had a look at a three-pointer to win at the buzzer, but the shot fell short.
