INDIANAPOLIS – The Colorado School of Mines Baseball team made history yet again Sunday as it received a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Mines earned the No. 4 seed in the six-team South Central Regional and will face third-seeded St. Edward's – the Heartland Conference regular-season and tournament champions. West Texas A&M received the No. 1 seed and will host the tournament May 17-20 in Canyon, Texas. The Orediggers and Hilltoppers face off Thursday in a rematch of Mines' 2018 home opener. Game times and ticket information will be announced Monday.
After splitting its four-game home opener with SEU, the Orediggers (35-16) went on to finish the regular season second in the RMAC standings. Mines advanced to the RMAC Tournament Championship game where they fell to top-seeded Colorado Mesa. Mines historic season will continue after setting program records for single-season wins, home runs, RBI, runs scored, walks and total bases.
In the regional's other matchups, top-seeded West Texas A&M plays Tarleton State and second-seeded Colorado Mesa takes on the No. 5 seed, Texas A&M-Kingsville. A full bracket of the six-team tournament will be available Monday.
