GOLDEN, Colo. - #5 Colorado School of Mines turned in a thoroughly dominant performance to shut out Adams State, 4-0, and remain perfect in RMAC play this season.
The Orediggers (9-1-1, 6-0-0 RMAC) outshot the Grizzlies 34-3 and took a program-record 19 corners as four different goalscorers got on the board.
Peyton Sanders and
Taylor McRae scored in the first half, and
Jennifer Kendall and
Nicole LaTourette tallied after the break to lead the Mines offense. A beautiful creation by
Acacia Ortiz led to the first goal, with her forward through ball finishing LaTourette, who crossed to Sanders in space for the finish at 19:48.
Kaylee Kennedy was fouled in the box at 38:52 to draw a penalty, and McRae froze the 'keeper on the spot kick.
Kendall's team-leading fifth goal of the year started the scoring three minutes into the second half, and LaTourette produced a fantastic turnaround finish off Ortiz's cross at 58:12 to make it 4-0.
