#9 Mines Shuts Out Adams State, 2-0

ALAMOSA, Colo. - #9 Colorado School of Mines shut out Adams State 2-0, not allowing a shot as they cruised in an RMAC match Sunday.

Defenders Giselle Sawaged and Lindsey Tornabene provided the goals as the Orediggers (9-1-1, 5-0-1 RMAC) outshot the Grizzlies (3-5-0, 1-4-0 RMAC) by a 21-0 margin. Head Coach Kevin Fickes earned his 100th career RMAC win with the result.

Sawaged got Mines on the board in the 15th minute with a spectacular long-range effort. Adams State goalkeeper Corri Zaiger punched a cross out to midfield, and Sawaged charged on it from the backline to chip Zaiger with a 40-yard goal. Tornabene doubled the lead in the 49th minute as she put home Emma Peterson's corner for her first goal of the year.

Mines' defense - Sawaged and Tornabene in the center and Mickey Hostetler and Brooke Patterson on the wings - was simply superb as they held the Grizzlies without a chance and largely kept them out of the Orediggers' half of the pitch.
