COLORADO SPRINGS - After coming away victorious at the Midwest Classic, Colorado School of Mines senior Robert Gambrell is the RMAC Wrestler of the Week.

Gambrell impressed as he won the 174-pound title at the nationally-elite Midwest Classic, going 5-0 and beating two other top-10 competitors in the process. Gambrell gave up just two points in three matches on Saturday (an 18-0 tech fall, 9-0 major, and 9-2 decision), then won 6-2 in the semifinals over #7 Hayden Bronne of Tiffin on Sunday. In the final, he faced top seed and #5-ranked Bret Romanzak of Ashland (the 2018 NCAA 165-pound champion) and won 4-3. In all, he outscored opponents 46-8 and trailed for just 15 seconds in the tournament.

The Wrestler of the Week honor is the first of Gambrell's career. This season, Gambrell is the #6-ranked 174-pounder in the NWCA rankings and is 10-1 overall.

Mines returns to action Jan. 10 at the NWCA National Duals in Louisville, Ky.
