DENVER - Led by defending champion
Tim Amundson, Colorado School of Mines is in the hunt after the first round of the Bob Writz Invitational at Bear Creek.
The Orediggers shot a team 300 (+12) to sit two strokes off the lead pace set by CSU-Pueblo. Colorado Mesa is seven strokes back in third (307, +19), with the University of Tampa fourth at 309 (+21).
Highlighted by a hole-in-one, Amundson is second with a one-under 71, just one shot behind Colorado's John Paterson. The defending medalist holed out on the 173-yard 13th for an eagle to finish with a rare under-par round at Bear Creek, which is consistently rated among Colorado's most difficult courses.

Carson Horak both coming in at +5 (T19).
Colin Dubnik was Mines' fifth man on Saturday with a +6 78 to tie for 28th.
Mines' "B" team, technically competing as individuals, attacked Bear Creek as
Alan Berry is tied for third after an even-par 72 and
Nic Beno shot 73 to sit in a tie for eighth.
Eric Marshall shot 77 to tie for 19th,
Max Engel made his collegiate debut with an 84 (T53), and
