#10 Mines Shatters Records In 11-0 Win

GOLDEN, Colo. - #10 Colorado School of Mines turned in a historic offensive performance as they routed Western Colorado, 11-0, in their RMAC opener Friday night.

The Orediggers (4-1-0) set the program record for goals in a game and tied the conference record for most goals in an RMAC match as Hannah Rowan scored a hat trick with an assist and Nicole LaTourette added a brace. Jordan Barnhart provided three assists.

Emi Higgins, Meg Zimmerman, Audrey Shin, Colleen Tyrrell, Chaney Brugman, and AK Ford also provided goals for Mines. The Orediggers outshot Western (0-5-0) 39-3.

Higgins got the party started in the 11th minute when she spun off a defender and pocketed her third goal of the season, and that sparked five first-half goals for the home side. Zimmerman buried a corner finish from Barnhart in the 15th minute before Rowan scored her first on a loose ball in the 33rd. Shin got behind the defense for a goal two minutes later and it was Tyrrell two minutes after that heading home another Barnhart corner to make it 5-0 at the half.

The avalanche of goals continued in the second half as Brugman dribbled through traffic and scored in the 49th minute before LaTourette went back-to-back in the 53rd and 60th minutes. Rowan then finished off her hat trick with two finishes, the first coming just 47 seconds after LaTourette's second goal and the second at the 66:32 mark, and Ford finished out the scoring with a far-post header off Rowan's corner in the 81st minute.

RECORD WATCH
Among the numerous records set Friday night...
- Mines tied the RMAC record for most goals in a conference match, which had previously been set by Fort Lewis in 2008 (vs. Adams State) and MSU Denver in 2006 (also vs. Adams State).
- Mines set the program record for most goals in a game surpassing nine-goal performances against then-NAIA Johnson & Wales in 2005 and former RMAC member Nebraska-Kearney in 2009. The game also marked the largest margin of victory in program history.
- Jordan Barnhart tied the program record for assists in a game at three; only Megan Woodworth duplicated the feat, doing so against Colorado Christian in 2010.
- Mines tied its program record for consecutive home wins without a loss at 20; the Orediggers are 19-0-1 at Stermole Stadium dating back to October 2017.

NOTABLES
- Rowan is only the seventh Oredigger to record a hat trick, and produced the 16th hat trick in program history. She joins LaTourette among active players to achieve the feat.
- LaTourette became the sixth player in program history to reach 20 career goals and now sits one behind Brooke Stoermer (21) for fifth all-time.
- Rowan, Zimmerman, Tyrrell, and Ford all scored their first career goals.
- Rowan joins Jessica Stark (2007) as the only other player in Mines history to score her first career goal as part of a hat trick.
- Mines is the fifth team in NCAA Division II to score double-digit goals this season.
- The Orediggers are 12-2-0 all-time in RMAC openers and won their 10th straight. Mines improved to 8-1-0 all-time against Western Colorado.
- Shannon Mooney and Sierra Roth split the shutout as Mooney was unbothered by two saves in the first half and Roth did not face a shot on goal.
- Although Mines had only a 52% possession edge, it was virtually all positive as the Orediggers spent 78% of their time in the attacking half. Western Colorado, meanwhile, spent only 30% of their total possession in the Mines half and only had one significant run into the box.
- Mines led 11-1 on corners.
