Higgins, Sidebaeck Lead #9 Mines By NMHU

GOLDEN, Colo. - Emi Higgins' brace and a goal and assist from Karolina Sidebaeck paced the offense as #9 Colorado School of Mines cruised in a 4-0 win over New Mexico Highlands.

The Orediggers (8-1-0, 4-0-0 RMAC) dominated from start to finish, outshooting the Cowgirls (0-6-0, 0-4-0 RMAC) by a 20-4 margin.

Higgins scored twice less than three minutes apart in the first half, finishing a scramble in the box at 17:41 before blasting a hard finish from the top of the box off Sidebaeck's creation at 20:03. Mines' third goal came in the 42nd minute when a corner header by Lindsey Tornabene was stopped at the line by a defender, and Emma Peterson was there for the putback at close range.

Mines had plenty of scoring opportunities in the second half starting with a penalty drawn by Kaylee Kennedy in the 67th minute; Peterson's take was well-saved by Katherine Scott, however, and Mines' only other goal would come on a half-field breakaway by Sidebaeck at 78:18.

NOTABLES
- The Orediggers capped a grueling span of five matches in 10 days with five wins after beating Western Colorado, Colorado Mesa, #10 Western Washington, and CSU-Pueblo over that span.
- Shannon Mooney and Sierra Roth split the shutout with each making one save. Katherine Scott had eight stops for the Cowgirls.
- Higgins took the team lead for goals this season at five as the rookie produced her first career multi-goal game.
- Peterson's goal was her first of the season. 
- Sidebaeck scored her second of the year and handed out her second assist of the weekend. The freshman had a goal and two assists over the last two games.
- Redshirt freshmen Taylor Klone and Amena Nelson made their first collegiate appearances in the match.
- Mines extended its home unbeaten streak to 24 matches, a program record.
- Through four RMAC games, Mines has outscored opponents 22-2.
- Mines improved to 16-4-3 all-time against NMHU.
- Head Coach Kevin Fickes won his 99th career RMAC match. Fickes is 99-14-9 in-league in his 10th season.

NEXT UP
Mines will head west of the Continental Divide to take on Fort Lewis next Friday.
