Mines Adds Two Transfers For 2020

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines football has announced two transfers for the spring semester, adding former Georgetown University offensive lineman Justin Wood and St. Cloud State receiver Josh Krause.

Wood joins the program as an immediately eligible graduate transfer and will have one year remaining. Krause will have redshirt sophomore eligibility, and can play immediately after St. Cloud State announced it was dropping its football program in December. Both are enrolled at Mines this spring.

A 6-4, 315-pound lineman out of Williamsport, Pa., Wood appeared in 17 games over the past three seasons at Division I FCS Georgetown, where he graduated in December. A starter in 2018, Wood was limited to four games in 2019 due to injury but looks to add immediate size and depth to a young Mines offensive line in 2020.

"Justin found us and wanted to do his graduate degree here," said head coach Gregg Brandon. "He gives us great depth and a big body on the line. We saw him working out this week and he can really move well."

Krause redshirted in 2018 at St. Cloud State but appeared in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2019, making six tackles with one for a loss. Although he was on the defensive side of the ball at SCSU, Brandon projects the 6-5, 195-pound Krause to be a wide receiver at Mines, a position he played in high school at Seymour (Wisc.).

"Coach Loudenback was at St. Cloud State before he came here, and when they discontinued their program he said we should take a look at Josh," Brandon said. "He's long and athletic, a big target, and to pick up a kid who has played at this level and competed, that's a big deal."

Mines will unveil the rest of its 2020 recruiting class as part of National Signing Day on February 5.
