GOLDEN, Colo. - Greyson Adams' hat trick powered a dominating effort by Colorado School of Mines in a 5-1 win over MSU Denver.
The Orediggers (9-3-0, 4-0-0 RMAC) dominated the game with a 21-3 shots advantage as
Azad Iliozer opened the scoring early and
Lucas King added an audacious free kick goal.
Iliozer got Mines off to a flying start when he finished
John Burnett's run to the box off the crossbar and down in the fourth minute. Adams bagged his first on a header from
Michael Sprauer's cross in the 22nd minute, and
Gabe Rodriguez was unlucky to not make it 3-0 moments later when his hard shot rang the crossbar.
Mines kept the pressure up in the second half, outshooting MSUD 12-1, and it paid off with Adams' second, another header, from
Tristan Semelsberger's cross in the 54th minute. A foul at the top of the box led to King's goal as the senior curled his shot around the wall and froze the goalkeeper on the hour.
The Roadrunners' goal came on Hernan Ibarra's close-range finish of Evan Bleyer's cross in the 67th minute, but Mines capped the win with Adams' hat trick as he converted the penalty kick drawn by
Chris Seery with 3:04 remaining in the match.
