GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A pair of second-half goals by Colorado Mesa lifted them to a 3-1 win over Colorado School of Mines on Friday.

The Orediggers (7-2-2, 4-1-0 RMAC) saw their perfect start to conference play snapped by the red-hot Mavericks (6-2-0, 3-1-0 RMAC), who were coming off an upset of #5 UCCS in their previous match.

Playing in the rain, Mesa outshot Mines 18-10 in the match, scoring early on Mikayla Eccher's 27th-minute goal before Reese McDermott leveled moments later. Lila Dere scored twice in the second half for the Mavs.

Mines pressured with four early chances, and McDermott nearly put Mines on the board in the 11th minute when her shot off a corner was cleared from the post by a Maverick defender. The Mavs got on the board first when a breakaway ball for Dere was stopped by stopped by a sliding Roth, but she was unable to reposition as Eccher was there for the putback of the rebound in the 27th minute.

Mines answered almost immediately as Eliot Edwards played a forward ball from her own half for McDermott, who got behind the defense and had only the goalkeeper to beat for her fourth of the season.

Things came undone in the second half, however, as Dere scored in the 55th minute for the lead, and Mines was limited to just three second-half shots (and only one on goal) as they searched for another equalizer. Dere put the game away in the 85th minute with her second of the match and seventh of the season.

NOTABLES
- Sierra Roth set a new career for saves with 10. Chloe Dody made three stops for CMU.

- Both McDermott and Emma Peterson led Mines with four shots each. Dere had a match-high eight.
- CMU's win snapped a 12-match winning streak by the Orediggers in the series.
