GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - More NCAA qualifying times were up on the board for Colorado School of Mines on a busy third day of the A3 Performance Invitational at Colorado Mesa University.Â
With one day of the meet remaining, the Mines men are still in second place with 746.5 team points and the women are third at 452. Colorado Mesa leads both sides with the Northern Arizona women second.Â
The meet concludes Saturday with 10 a.m. prelims and 4 p.m. finals.
100-FLY
Charles Burroughs finished second in the men's 100-fly with an NCAA B time of 48.88, just three-tenths off his own program record.
Harry Smith (4th, 49.20) and
Robert Clayton (5th, 49.51) were also in the A final.
Erin Taggart led the way for the Mines women finishing sixth in 58.17, and
Sophia Buhr was eighth in 59.48.
Jules Hays won the B final for ninth in 59.59.
400-IM
Olivia Kisow impressed with her second-place, NCAA-B 4:33.01 time, one of three Orediggers in the A final with
Erin Taggart finishing fifth in 4:40.39 and
Isabella Bono seventh in 4:43.93.
Braden Whitmarsh also notched an NCAA B time in the event with his second-place 4:04.69. Whitmarsh went 2-3 with
Ronan Lauinger, who touched in 4:06.04, while
Josh Lee was fifth (4:10.70),
Joe Peak seventh (4:16.51), and
Andres Saa eighth (4:16.51).Â
200-FREE
Garrett Waite finished second in the men's 200-free in an NCAA B time of 1:39.98, and
Nick Delany placed fifth in 1:43.21 with
Michael Kietzman eighth at 1:45.12.
Meghan Slowey had the women's top time of 1:55.99 for 10th place.Â
100-BREAST
Jack Engler paced Mines in the 100-breaststroke with a fourth-place 57.05, while
Charles Burroughs was seventh in 1:00.19.
Connie Lee was the lone Oredigger woman to qualify for the A final, finishing sixth in 1:05.48 after qualifying for the final in a swim-off beating Northern Arizona's Anslee Dickerson by three-tenths in 1:04.40.Â
100-BACK
Harry Smith led the 100-back in fifth place at 50.54, with
Seth Krause coming in seventh in 51.17. Two Oredigger women made the B final as
Emma Neuroth was 12th in 59.70 and
Ava Burger 13th in 1:00.02.Â
400-MEDLEY RELAY
The Mines men ended the night with a third-place 3:23.58 time in the 400-medley relay thanks to Smith, Engler, Burroughs, and Kietzman. The women's relay of Neuroth, Lee, Taggart, and
Jorie Selig was fourth in 3:55.04
