Mines Crowns Three Champs At UNK Open

KEARNEY, Neb. -
#3 Weston Hunt, #7 Anderson Salisbury, and Ryan Cody won their brackets to lead #18 Colorado School of Mines at the Younes Hospitality Open at Nebraska-Kearney.

Mines had nine placewinners overall on the day, including a runner-up finish for Grayston DiBlasi at Amateur 141 and Anthony Atria's third at Amateur 285. 

ELITE BRACKETS
Salisbury and Hunt led four placewinners in the Elite weight classes with their victories. Salisbury cruised through the 184-pound bracket with a 4-0 day highlighted by a 4-0 win over Air Force's Calvin Sund in the semis and a 7-5 upset win against UNK's #4 Austin Eldredge in the final after two first-period takedowns and a second-period reversal.

Hunt went 5-0 with two falls and a major to start the day before beating two CSU Pueblo grapplers, Jayson Davis 8-2 in the semis and Gavin Nye 3-1 on an overtime takedown.

#12 Carter Noehre finished 4th at 157, winning his first three matches before being caught by Northern Colorado's Nathan Moore in a first-period pin in the semis. He then defaulted his third-place match for fourth. #12 Ryan Fidel finished fifth at 174 after a 4-2 day; he fell to #8 Max Bruss of UMary in the semis, but ended on a victory beating UNK's Jacobi Deal 12-5 in the fifth-place bout. 

Three Orediggers went 2-2 including Christian Lopez at 125, Jack Damenti at 165, KJ Kearns at 165, and Perry Rodenbeck at 197. Nolan Funk was 1-2 at 197. Tyler Krause had an 0-2 day at 133 as did Teague Dilbeck at 141, Aidan Funk at and Levi Farris at 174, and Mike True at 285. 

AMATEUR BRACKETS
Ryan Cody's 197-pound victory highlighted a bevy of Amateur bracket placewinners for the Orediggers. Cody went 5-0 win four bonus-point victories including two first-minute falls, beating Baker's Malachi Karibo 12-3 in the final. 

Grayston DiBlasi made a run to the 141 final, going 4-1 with his only loss coming in the final to Wyoming's Darren Green, 7-4; his fay included a fall, a tech fall, and two decisions. 

Anthony Atria followed up his Mines Rookie Open placing with a third-place performance at UNK, going 5-1 at 285. Atria advanced to the semis before suffering his only loss, then wrestled back with two wins to take third. Tristin David finished fifth at 157 in a 5-2 day, gathering two falls and a major among his five victories. Garrett Bakarich was sixth at 174 with an impressive performance, going 5-3 with all five of his victories coming by fall including three in the first period. 

Among Orediggers picking up wins in the Amateur weight classes, Davion Chavez was 4-2 at 125, Will Loecke started off with two falls in a 3-2 day at 133, Malachi Contreras was 2-2 at 133, Dylan Yancey was 1-2 at 141, Carson Dulitz was 2-2 including a fall at 149, Daniel Caddy was 3-2 with a pin at 149, Wyatt Lewis racked up a 3-2 day with two falls at 165, Grant Crownhart was 1-2 at 165, and Avery Krippner went 1-2 at 184.
