INDIANAPOLIS - Five Colorado School of Mines grapplers will wrestle in Sunday at the 42nd Midwest Classic at UIndy.
Weston Hunt is into the semifinals to the lead the way, with
Cody Thompson,
Carter Noehre,
Ryan Fidel, and
Anderson Salisbury also still going in consolations. Mines is 10th in the team scoring with 38.5 points, with #1 Central Oklahoma leading at 71.5 ahead of Wisconsin-Parkside's 57.0.
Sunday's final session begins at 9 a.m. ET.

Christian Lopez went 2-2 on the day, advancing to the consolation second round. Lopez won his prelim and championship first-round bouts by decision (11-5 over UMary's Jaden Verhagen and 8-6 over Maryville's Anthony Pisciotta) before falling 5-0 to #5 Christian Mejia of McKendree, then 9-5 to San Francisco State's Antonio Margiotta.

Tyler Krause had a tough day at 133, falling in his opener 9-0 to Findlay's Ashton Anderson, then getting a tough consolation assignment against #9 Eric Bartos of Mercyhurst, who won 7-1.

Grayston DiBlasi battled in a 2-2 day that included two falls. DiBlasi came back from a 9-7 sudden-victory prelim loss to Adams State's Angelo Flores to pin William Jewell's Leslie Davenport in 2:03, then pinned Coker's Omar Armengol in 2:31. His tournament ended in a 4-3 heartbreaker to Maryville's Taylor Jokerst.

Cody Thompson remains alive in his collegiate debut after a 4-1 Saturday. The freshman picked up two decision wins to start the day over Lander's Randy Meyers, 5-0, and UW-Parkside's Nathan Hensley 5-4. His only blemish was a 15-4 major decision loss to #7 Brik Filippo of Central Oklahoma, but he bounced back with a fall against Tiffin's Collin Adkins in the second period before advancing by injury default over Logan Mckoy of Seton Hill. That puts Thompson into tomorrow's consolation quarterfinals.

Carter Noehre is also alive into the consolation quarters after a 3-1 day. Noehre beat Emmanuel's Christian Trimble 8-5 to start before being pinned by John Ridel of Central Missouri early in the second period; he responded with a 10-0 major over Tiffin's Dylan Mansor and an 8-6 win against McKendree's Jose Champagne.

Jack Damenti wrestled back from an opening prelim loss to win three in a row before ending a 3-2 tournament on Saturday. He had a tough draw starting against #5 Kameron Frame of Newman but battled in a 3-0 loss, then pinned Davenport's Fernando Pena in 46 seconds, decisioned Jay Skalecki of Queens 10-4, and worked a 17-6 major over Colby Romjue of Seton Hill; his day ended with a 14-7 decision to Central Missouri's Emmett Kuntz.

Ryan Fidel is still alive after going 2-1 on Saturday. Fidel won by tech fall over SFSU's Gage Mettler and then blanked Lander's Jack Bond 4-0; in his quarterfinal bout, he was tough in a 3-1 loss to #3 Daniel Beemer of Ashland.

Anderson Salisbury at 184 as he was 2-1 to still be alive. Salisbury pinned Belmont Abbey's Mason Kump in 2:07 to start, then beat UMary's Wyatt Lidberg 10-3. In the quarters, he lost a one-point decision 5-4 to Alex Kauffman of UCO.

Perry Rodenbeck had one of the tournament's toughest draws facing two top-four wrestlers as he went 1-2 at 197. Rodenbeck showed heart in opening against #1 Dalton Abney of UCO and wrestled to a 5-2 decision, but bounced back to major Hunter Harnish of Mercyhust 11-2. He then faced #4 Donnie Negus of Colorado Mesa and was edged 6-5.

Weston Hunt is into the semifinals after a perfect Saturday at heavyweight. Hunt pinned Emmanuel's Ja'mon Goodwine in 1:31 to start the day, then earned decisions over Pitt-Johnstown's Isaiah Vance, 5-1, and UCO's Braden Morgan, 5-3. Hunt will face #12 Ian Kuehl of McKendree in the semis. Hunt's fall over Goodwine was the 25th of his career, making him only the fourth wrestler in program history to reach the plateau.
