CANYON, Texas - Colorado School of Mines closed out its opening weekend trip with an 11-3 loss at West Texas A&M.
The red-hot Buffs (8-0) continued to produce at the plate with 11 runs off 10 hits, pouncing on seven Oredigger defensive errors. Freshman
Sidney Wilson hit her first career home run in a two-RBI game to lead Mines (1-3) offensively.
Both Wilson and
Kayleigh Krueger had two-hit games while
Clara Larson drove in a run and
Stefanie Brunello doubled.
The Buffs got off to a fast start with two runs in the first, but Wilson singled in Krueger in the second to cut the lead in half at 2-1. The game was broken open in the second when WT's Shanna McBroom tripled in two runs and Ruby Salzman added another, and more runs in the third and fourth made it a 7-1 game. Larson's double to score Brunello in the fifth gave Mines some hope, but another McBroom triple combined with an error produced two more runs in the Buff's fifth.
Wilson led off the sixth with a solo home run before West Texas A&M walked off in the bottom of the frame with two runs, ending it on Maddie Geidel's RBI groundout to lead 11-3.
Kyra Lair (6-0) went 4.2 innings and allowed one earned run with five strikeouts; Emilee Wilson threw 1.1 innings of relief.
Lauren Decker (0-1) went four innings in the start and allowed seven runs, although four were unearned;
Sadriena Rodriguez and

Mines is slated to open RMAC play next Saturday, hosting CSU Pueblo in a four-game series.
