Orediggers’ Title Fuels Rise to 10th

LEXINGTON, Ky. –
The Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team rose five spots to 10th nationally in this week's AVCA Division II Top 25 after winning the RMAC Tournament Championship last Saturday.
 
Mines' RMAC Tournament run included sweeps of fifth-seeded Western Colorado along with top-seeded and #2-ranked Colorado Mesa. The fourth-seeded and then 15th-ranked Orediggers capped the run by toppling second-seeded and #3-ranked MSU Denver at Brownson Arena in Grand Junction, Colo. Individual stars of the tournament included Amanda Donais, Taylor Hicken and Rose Stuewe who were all named to the RMAC All-Tournament team. Drew Stokes claimed RMAC Tournament MVP distinction. Also notable were Julia Eiken and Elle Duis. Eiken teased a triple-double in the championship match while Duis racked up 25 digs and two service aces. Lindsey Jin also came off the bench to knock down 11 kills.
 
It marks the 10th straight week Mines has appeared in the nation's top 25. Other movement featured MSU Denver dropping one spot to fourth. Colorado Mesa tumbled from second to sixth. Regis took a two-spot hit as the Rangers checked in at 24th. Oklahoma Baptist took over as the #1-ranked team according the AVCA thanks to a mark of 18-0. CSU Pueblo dropped out of the top 25 but still ranked the equivalent of 26th in the receiving votes section.
 
The RMAC Tournament marked the end of the 2020-21 campaign for Mines. The Orediggers now look to the fall and the official 2021 season. Any and all updates on Mines volleyball will be posted at www.minesathletics.com throughout the offseason.
