#25 Mines Blanks CMU, Advances To RMAC Semis

GOLDEN, Colo. - Eliot Edwards' early goal held up as #25 Colorado School of Mines advanced past Colorado Mesa with a 1-0 win in the RMAC Tournament quarterfinals.

The Orediggers (7-0-2) will advance to face CSU Pueblo, a 2-0 winner over Regis, on Friday in the semifinals. UCCS will be the host site for the weekend; match times are to be announced.

Mines wasted no time getting on the board when Edwards tallied just 3:40 into the match. Hannah Rowan made a run up the left side and found Edwards near the top of the box, where she dodged a defender and launched a dropping ball to the upper right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The Oredigger defense handled things from there despite intense pressure late in the first half by the Mavericks. CMU's best chance was at the end of a three-minute flurry of shots when Addie Randel's bouncing shot off a corner was cleared off the line by the defense.

Making her first career start in goal, Dani vonLembke rose to the occasion with a four-save shutout as the backline of Samantha Scott, Colleen Tyrrell, Karolina Sidebaeck, and Ava Harman largely kept the Mavericks out of the box.
