#13 Mines Scores Early And Often At WCU

GUNNISON, Colo. - An avalanche of early goals paced #13 Colorado School of Mines as they finished an unbeaten regular season with a 5-0 win at Western Colorado.

The Orediggers (6-0-2, 4-0-1 RMAC) scored four times in the opening 18 minutes as Eliot Edwards had two goals and an assist and Chaney Brugman and a goal and a helper in the game. Mines dominated outshooting WCU (1-6-0, 1-2-0) 23-5 overall.

Cloey Seltzer put Mines ahead just 2:46 into the game when she finished off of Edwards' pass, and AK Ford doubled the lead with her fourth goal of the year off Brugman's assist at 8:38. Edwards converted from the penalty spot in the 16th minute, then scored her second just two minutes later to make it 4-0.

Brugman added a goal 1:52 into the second half cap off the win at 5-0. Sierra Roth and Dani vonLembke combined for the shutout as Roth made one save.

NOTABLES
- With CSU Pueblo losing 1-0 to Fort Lewis on Saturday, Mines is assured of being the #1 seed in the RMAC's Mountain division. Nearly every other team still has games remaining, however, so tournament seeding will not be announced until next weekend.
- The goal output was Mines' most of the season.
- Edwards now leads the team with five goals and 13 points this season. Brugman and Ford both have four goals, while Seltzer scored the second of her career.
- Edwards led all players with six shots.
- The Oredigger defense turned in its fifth shutout of the season as the Mountaineers were held to a season-low one shot on goal.
- Mines improved to 9-1 all-time against WCU as they won their first match at the new Katy O. Rady Field in Gunnison.

NEXT UP
Mines will host FC Boulder in an exhibition match on Thursday night; the RMAC Tournament begins Tuesday, April 20.
