#21 Mines vs. #13 Adams State, Friday, 6 p.m. [RMAC Network] [Live Results]

OREDIGGERS RETURN WITH BIG RMAC DUAL
#21 Colorado School of Mines returns from the semester break at home on Friday, hosting a key RMAC dual against #13 Adams State at 6 p.m. Mines and ASU - picked #1 and #2 in the RMAC preseason coaches' poll - are both 1-0 this season, with the Grizzlies heading to Chadron State Thursday night before visiting Golden. The meet will stream live on the RMAC Network at minesathletics.com/tv.

MASKS REQUIRED FOR FANS AT VOLK GYM
In accordance with regulations established by Jefferson County Public Health, all spectators for Mines indoor sporting events, including wrestling at Volk Gym, must wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

IN THE POLLS
Mines sits at #21 in the latest NWCA Division II poll, with Adams State at #13. Individually, this weekend's dual will feature five nationally-ranked wrestlers, although none head-to-head; ASU has #9 Isaiah de la Cerda at 125, #4 Noah Hermosillo at 149, and #6 Josiah Rider at 157 in the projected lineup, while Mines has #9 Anderson Salisbury at 184 and #4 Weston Hunt at 285 pounds.

LAST TIME OUT
The Orediggers have not wrestled since Dec. 19, when they finished 16th at the Midwest Classic. Weston Hunt placed sixth and Anderson Salisbury seventh at that meet as they carried five wrestlers over to the second day of competition against an elite field. Mines' only other dual of the season so far was back on Dec. 2 when they rolled 39-6 over New Mexico Highlands, earning bonus points in six of eight bout victories including pins by Tyler Krause, Wes Rayburn, Zach Krause, and Hunt.

MINES CARRIES RMAC STREAK
The Orediggers enter the Adams State meet with a 10-match RMAC winning streak that dates back to the 2018-19 season. It ranks as the longest conference winning streak in program history.

THE MINES VS. ADAMS STATE SERIES
The Orediggers and Grizzlies did not wrestle last year in the pandemic-shortened season; the last time they met was on Feb. 7, 2020, when the then-#9 ranked Orediggers beat #13 ASU 23-18. All-time, ASU leads the series 40-20 dating back to 1953, but Mines has won five in a row dating back to the 2015-16 season.

LEADING THE WAY
This year's team is led by KJ Kearns, Zach Krause, and Anderson Salisbury, who were voted captains in the preseason. Kearns is a returning captain as a junior, while Krause is a first-time captain in his second season as a graduate transfer after arriving from Brown before the 2019-20 season. Salisbury is also a first-time captain in his redshirt senior season.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will host a tri-meet next Thursday, Jan. 20 with Fort Hays State taking on San Francisco State at 3 p.m. before the Orediggers wrestle SFSU at 5 p.m. and FHSU at 7.
