GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines dominated its meet against Adams State on Saturday, winning every event in the non-scoring sprint eliminator dual.
The Orediggers celebrated Senior Day before the meet, honoring women's seniors
Maddie Finley and
Sam Henney and men's seniors
CJ Berg,
Robert Clayton,
Henry Oberley,
Austin Rich, and
Harry Smith.
The meet featured a prelim-semi-final sprint series of 50-yard events as well as a few traditional distances mixed in. No team scoring was kept with the unusual format.
Jorie Selig highlighted the meet for the women with a dominating three-win performance in the sprints, capturing the 50-fly (27.32), 50-breast (31.38), and 50-free (24.79) while also anchoring a win in the 200-free relay and swimming on the 400-medley relay. Henney won the 50-back on her senior day in 29.13 to round out the sprint sweep.
Sophia Buhr won the 200-free in 2:02.17, and
Olivia Kisow captured the 200-IM in 2:16.07. In the relays, the 400-medley squad of Henney, Selig,
Erin Taggart, and Finley swam 4:10.49 to win unopposed, and Finley, Henney, Taggart, and Selig won the 200-free relay in 1:44.36.
It was a similar story for the men as
Charles Burroughs won the 50-fly (23.04) and 50-free (21.62),
Garrett Waite took the 50-breast (26.89), and
Sam LaPrade won the 50-back (24.14) to sweep the sprints.
Owen Nord captured the 200-free in 1:47.45, and Max Waring won the 200-IM in 2:04.09.
The 400-medley relay of Waite, Lauinger, Kietzman, and
Gavin Gilmore was first in 3:39.27, and Nord,
Jack Engler,
Jaron O'Grady, and Waite won the 200-free relay in 1:28.57.
