KEARNEY, Neb. - #21 Colorado School of Mines went 1-1 in the Midwest Duals at the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, handily defeating Central Missouri before running up against the host Lopers later in the morning.
The Orediggers (5-1) rested starters at four weight classes as they prepare for the RMAC stretch run, but still came away with some big results including
Carter Noehre's upset of UNK's #5-ranked Jacob Wasser in the day's second dual.
#21 Colorado School of Mines 38, Central Missouri 6
Mines won nine of 10 bouts including five with bonus points to rout Central Missouri 38-6 early in the session.
Christian Lopez got Mines off to a flying start with a 15-0 technical fall at 125 pounds as the Orediggers on their first seven weight classes.
Tyler Krause and
Grayston DiBlasi put together back-to-back major decisions, 10-2 and 14-0 at 133 and 141, respectively, and
Cody Thompson pinned his opponent in 46 seconds before UCM forfeited 157 and
KJ Kearns outlasted Emmett Kuntz in the second overtime period 6-4.
Levi Farris' 8-3 decision at 174 put the Orediggers up 31-0.
The Mules' only win was by fall at 184 as Zach Hazen won over
Aidan Funk in the second period, but Mines finished strongly as
Perry Rodenbeck dominated in a 14-3 major decision at 197, and
Anthony Atria edged Trevor Hankins 5-3 at 285.

#3 UNK showed why they're a national championship contender as they won nine weight classes on the way to a 38-3 win to end the tournament.
Mines' performance was highlighted by Noehre's upset of #5 Jacob Wasser at 157 pounds as Noehre prevailed 9-5.
Christian Lopez battled at 125 in a 6-2 setback to #8 Josh Portillo, as did
KJ Kearns at 165 against #2 Matt Malcolm in a 15-9 decision. In all, the Lopers had eight nationally-ranked individuals in the lineup.

Daniel Caddy, and Tristan David all won by decision; Bakarich was pinned in his second match at 174 pounds.
