Orediggers Start Weekend With Air Force Tri

COLORADO SPRINGS
- A win by the men's 200-free relay highlighted Friday night's tri-meet as Colorado School of Mines got back to second semester action at Air Force with Colorado Mesa also in the pool. 

The men capped the meet with a win as the 200-free relay squad of Michael Kietzman, Braden Hunt, Harry Smith, and Garrett Waite won a thriller by sixth-hundreths over Colorado Mesa in 1:25.23. The men also had had a number of second-place finishes to highlight their night, including Henry Oberley in the 1000-free in 10:21.39, a spot ahead of Ronan Lauinger in 10:26.55, while Braden Whitmarsh was also second in the 200-free in 1:44.54. Charles Burroughs swam 50.81 for second in the 100-fly, and Harry Smith hit second in the 100-free in 46.51. 

Lauinger later finished third in both the 400-IM (4:22.07) and 500-free (4:57.39), and Whitmarsh was fourth in the 100-back (52.23).

Among the women's top individual finishes, Meghan Slowey took third in the 1000-free in 11:12.70 and seventh in the 500 (5:32.40), Sophia Buhr finished the 400-IM in a fourth-place 4:54.12, and was also fourth in the 100-fly at 1:00.66, and Maddie Finley was fifth in the 50-free in 25.32. 

Air Force won all sides of the tri-meet with a 146-82 score over #16 Mines on the men's side and 194-36 against #24 Mines for the women; #4 CMU also won head-to-head with the Orediggers 149-87 and 185-51, while the Air Force men defeated CMU 136-104 and the women tied 121-121.

The Mines and Air Force men will swim in Golden Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The women are back in action along with the men next Friday at Wyoming.
