Day Three Results

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Nine more NCAA cuts and four program records provided the fireworks on day three of the TYR/CMU Invitational for the Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams.

The Orediggers closed the day with the men ranked #2 in the team standings while Mines' women sit #3, trailing just Colorado Mesa and NCAA Division I Northern Arizona.

100-FLY
The day opened with Annie Osmun, Savannah Karas, Kylie VanderMeer, Jorie Selig, Emma Neuroth, Cameryn Schmidt, and Jules Hays all qualifying for finals in the 100-fly. Osmun led the finals crew by posting a NCAA "B" time of 55.51 to finish #3 overall. Charles Burroughs joined the fun on the men's side, turning in a pair of "B" cuts in both prelims and finals while also breaking the program record. His best time of 48.31 bested his own record set in 2019 at the same meet. Seth Krause, Sam LaPrade, Max Waring, and Luca Burns also competed in finals.

400-IM
In the second event of the day, Olivia Kisow, Isabella Bono and Ava Burger all qualified for finals for the Oredigger women. Ronan Lauinger, Braden Whitmarsh, Andres Saa, Scott Reeder, Josh Lee, and Nathan O'Neil did the same for the men. Lauinger's NCAA "B" cut in prelims improved to a better "B" cut in finals at 4:01.5 to take #2 overall. Kisow parlayed her finals appearance into a NCAA "B" cut, swimming 4:35.52 and touching #6.

200-FREE
Emi Jedryka, Meghan Slowey, Maggie Wells, Kylie, VanderMeer, Joe Peak, Jake Sherman, Braden Hunt, Michael Kietzman, Nick Delany, Jaron O'Grady, and Mattie Oberley all produced 200-free times that were good enough for the evening session. Kietzman emerged as the Oredigger leader in finals thanks to a NCAA "B" cut of 1:40.91 that proved good enough for #3.

100-BREAST
Action rolled on in the 100-breast as Jordan Tierney, Cameryn Schmidt, Claire Lautman, Ava Burger, Jack Engler, Garrett Waite, Gavin Moore, Joe Hutchinson, Gavin Gilmore, and Nathan O'Neil raced to finals berths. Tierney stole the show at night by breaking the program record with a NCAA "B" cut to boot. Her 1:03.60 broke teammate Jorie Selig's record from last season and gave her a #3 finish. Additionally, Schmidt claimed her own NCAA time after finishing in 1:04.13.

100-BACK
Emma Neuroth was the lone Oredigger to swim in the 100-back finals for the women. Jakson Winn, Krause, Burns, LaPrade, Kietzman, Waring, and Hunt all represented the men in the evening. Winn emerged with a program record thanks to a 49.09 that topped Jerry Birnbaum's mark from 2019.

400-MEDLEY RELAY
The highlight from the final event of the day was yet another program record. Jedryka, Tierney, Osmun and Selig all teamed up in the 400-medley relay to swim a time of 3:50.62. That toppled the previous record set by Sarah Berude, Madeleine Oakley, Daphne Williams, and Mia Wood in the 2017-18 season by nearly two seconds.

Mines closes out the TYR/CMU Invitational on Saturday. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals going off at 4 p.m. Free, live video will be offered on the RMAC Network and live results will be linked at www.minesathletics.com.
