OREDIGGERS HOST TRI-MEET AT VOLK
#24 Colorado School of Mines is set to open its RMAC dual slate as it hosts San Francisco State and Fort Hays State Friday in a triple dual at Volk Gym. The two visitors will wrestle each other at 4 p.m. followed by Mines taking on RMAC affiliate SFSU at 5:30 and then wrestling a non-conference dual against Fort Hays State at 7 p.m. All three will stream live on the RMAC Network.

THE SEASON THUS FAR
The 2022-23 season is still young, but the Orediggers have found plenty of success early on. Mines got their season off to a winning start on Nov. 3 with a 53-0 shutout of Colby CC, which included eight bonus-point wins. The Mines Rookie Open on Nov. 6 also saw Mines grapplers doing well as Grayston DiBlasi won his bracket, Garrett Bakarich and Deandre Rucker were runners-up, and 10 Orediggers overall placing in the bracketed tournament. The Orediggers' last action was the UNK Younes Hospitality Open on Nov. 19 where Anderson Salisbury placed second, Cody Thompson fourth, and Christian Lopez fifth.

IN THE POLLS
Mines appeared at #24 in the preseason NWCA Division II poll, with a pair of ranked individuals as Grayston DiBlasi is #7 at 141 pounds and Anderson Salisbury is #6 at 197. Both were NCAA qualifiers last year as Salisbury earned his second straight all-America honor at 184 pounds and DiBlasi won 26 matches as a true freshman. Mines was also picked second in the RMAC preseason coaches' poll earning a pair of first-place votes behind Adams State.

LEADING THE WAY
The Orediggers have selected four captains for the 2022-23 season: Jack Damenti, KJ Kearns, Tyler Krause, and Anderson Salisbury. Both Kearns and Salisbury are returning captains from the 2021-22 season.

MOVING ON UP
Anderson Salisbury continues to rack up wins in his career, and the two-time all-American can join an elite club this weekend. At 68-21 all-time in his career, Salisbury is close to becoming the 18th wrestler in program history to reach 70 wins, a mark most recently achieved by former teammates Weston Hunt (78) and Robert Gambrell (73).

POSTMATCH FUN
Oredigger fans attending Friday's dual are invited to a post-match social Friday night at the Miners Saloon, located at 1109 Miner's Alley in downtown Golden.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will close the semester at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis on Dec. 17-18. They will not be home again until Jan. 29 when they host Western Colorado.
