Swimming Sweeps Colorado College

RESULTS
 
COLORADO SPRINGS – Two dual sweeps capped a Saturday of success for the Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams at Colorado College.
 
Mines' men got the dual win behind a score of 142-95. The Oredigger women earned their victory by a 130-106 margin. Overall, Mines' men and women combined to win 18 events with 12 second-place finishes and 10 third-place finishes. Colorado College had eight total wins with four first-place finishes in diving events.
 
The morning started with the Orediggers sweeping the women's and men's 200-medley relay. It was a 1:50.20 win for the women, while the men touched in 1:33.09. Meghan Slowey dominated the 1000-free, winning by almost eight seconds over teammate Isabella Bono. Slowey's final time was 11:06.93 while Bono finished in 11:14.59. Scott Reeder followed Slowey's lead in the men's 1000-free, winning in 10:07.22. Reeder also had a big 500-free, taking first with a time of 4:55.14.
 
Mines' next win after the 1000-free came from Michael Kietzman in the men's 200-free. His pace clocked at 1:46.02. Jorie Selig carried that momentum into the sprints, claiming the 50-free at a 24.85 clip. Olivia Kisow won the 200-IM with a time of 2:15.62. Then, after the first diving break, Braden Whitmarsh hopped on the first-place train with gold in the 100-fly on the merits of a 52.83 time. Jordan Tierney and Jakson Winn swept the wommen's and men's 100-free in 54.99 and 47.07, respectively.
 
It was all Orediggers through the last half of the dual. Annie Osmun and Seth Krause swept the 100-back with times of 1:00.67 and 51.86. Slowey joined Reeder in a sweep of the 500-free. Slowey's pace clocked in at 5:24.77. One more diving break led to 100-breast victories for Tierney and Jack Engler who each touched in 1:06.67 and 58.17. Mines closed the day with a pair of 200-freestyle relay wins.
 
Saturday marked the Orediggers' last competition of 2022. They return to action Jan. 13-14 at the Air Force Invitational. A full preview and any live coverage will be released the week leading up to the next event.
