Mines Bounces CCU To Run Win Streak To 8

LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' winning streak stretched to eight games as they blew out Colorado Christian, 85-50, on the road Saturday night. 

The Orediggers (13-7, 11-5 RMAC) scored the first nine points of the game and never looked back, shooting .579 overall and a season-best .583 for three to run away from the Cougars (7-14, 4-11 RMAC). 

It was again a distributed team effort on offense as Brendan Sullivan and Kai Barr each had 16 points, Ben Boone scored 15, and Riley Schroeder had 12 to go with seven rebounds. Justin Engesser, returning to his undergraduate alma mater for the final time, had nine points, nine rebounds, and four assists off the bench.

CCU was held to .298 shooting for the game as Ross Williams' 14 points and Isaiah Alonzo's 10 were their only double-digit performances. The Orediggers' size advantage played out with a 50-16 points in the paint lead, forcing CCU outside where they were only 6-of-26 from beyond the arc.

Mines led wire-to-wire with a 9-0 run to start the game bookended by Adam Krasovec baskets as part of a larger 18-4 start over the first eight minutes. Mines led by as much as 20 in the first half and continued to pull away in the second hitting 18 of 30 shots (.600) after halftime. 

NOTABLES
- Barr came off the bench to tie his career scoring high with a 6-of-7 performance, adding six rebounds, three assists, and a block in only 17 minutes.
- Paul O'Leary had a remarkably efficient night in the post rotation, scoring nine points on 4-of-5 shooting in just seven minutes.
- Boone was 3-for-3 from the outside in building his 15 points, and also dished four assists.
- Mines is shooting .529 overall during its current eight-game win streak led by Sullivan, who has not shot below 50 percent in a game since New Year's Day and is 49-of-83 (.590) overall during the streak. Sullivan was 6-of-11 tonight. 
- CCU's .298 shooting percentage marked the third time this season that Mines has held an opponent below 30 percent. It is the fifth time Mines has allowed 50 or fewer points this season.
- Mines dominated the glass with a 45-25 rebounding lead. 
- The Orediggers won their 14th in a row over CCU dating back to 2013 and improved to 36-13 all-time in the series.
