ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The standout careers of Colorado School of Mines'
Weston Hunt and
Anderson Salisbury came to an end as NCAA placewinners and all-Americans on Saturday as the duo competed on the final day of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.
Hunt finished fourth at 285 pounds and Salisbury seventh at 184 pounds to cap off the season, marking the second straight year that the two placed at nationals.Â
The Orediggers' final team placing will be determined after the conclusion of finals on Saturday night. After Session III, Mines was 11th with 26.5 points, which if it holds up would mark the program's best national team finish since coming in seventh in 1996.Â

Salisbury went out with his arm raised as he took seventh, a spot better than in 2021. Salisbury's consolation quarterfinal to begin the day was a defensive battle against Caden Steffen of Southwest Minnesota State, with each man getting quick escapes to force overtime; in sudden victory, Steffen snatched an ankle into a high single-leg for a takedown to win 3-1.
That set up a rematch of Salisbury's first-round loss to Reece Worachek of UW-Parkside for seventh place. After a scoreless first, Salisbury secured the escape, and then a shot midway through the second resulted in a two-point takedown and a 3-0 lead. Worachek reversed off the start of the third but Salisbury quickly escaped to lead 4-2, and he worked a smart third period to keep riding time and win 5-2.Â
Salisbury finishes his decorated career as a two-time all-American at 63-20 overall, and his .759 career winning percentage ranks fourth all-time at Mines.

Hunt's morning started against Gannon's Freddie Nixon, and both men traded escapes to start periods and the clock ran out a split-second before Hunt could secure a takedown at the end of regulation. It looked as if the sudden-victory period would go scoreless but Hunt snapped and rotated for the takedown with six seconds to go, winning 3-1.
That set up a rematch with Central Oklahoma's Shawn Streck, but it ended in less than two minutes. Hunt came out the aggressor and earned a takedown, but that led Streck to withdraw with an injury default to allow Hunt to move into the third-place bout.Â
The third-place bout was a rematch of the 2021 national final between Hunt and Kameron Teacher of St. Cloud State. Teacher chased down an early takedown that Hunt quickly escaped from, and Teacher found an escape off the second-period start to lead 3-1. Hunt was up and out to begin the third, but a penalty point went to Teacher and Hunt's aggressive period came up empty in the 4-2 final.Â
Hunt's 78 wins ranks 10th all-time at Mines, and his .757 career winning percentage (78-25) is fifth right behind Salisbury. His 29 career falls rank third at Mines, and he departs the mat as only the sixth three-time all-American and second four-time NCAA qualifier in program history.
