GAME 1 - REGIS 8, COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES 7
Regis hung on to win Saturday's opening game as both teams rallied back from deficits in an 8-7 scoreline in favor of the Rangers.
The two teams combined for 29 hits and five home runs in the game, which saw the lead trade hands twice before the game went into the seventh tied 6-6.
Lexie Semeyn hit a grand slam and
Sara Larson drove in two while
Sidney Wilson stayed hot going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and the heart of Mines' order -
Lauren Decker, Wilson,
Kayleigh Krueger, Larson, and Semeyn - each had multi-hit games. Jessi Case hit two home runs and Shayelyn Allen had three RBI to lead the Rangers.
Regis homered in each of the first three innings to build a 3-0 lead as Case went yard in her first two at-bats before Allisha Martinez went deep in the third. Mines' huge fourth inning erased the Ranger gains, however, as Larson's bases-loaded single scored Decker before Semeyn smashed her third home run of the year and first collegiate grand slam to left to lead 5-3.
Regis answered in the fifth by manufacturing three runs keyed by Katherine Raper's RBI double to get things going, but Mines again responded with a run as Larson plopped a single down to the line to bring in Decker in the bottom of the fifth.
With the score knotted 6-6 in the seventh, Allen smashed a two-run home run to left to lead 8-6, but Mines had every opportunity to win as Krueger doubled in Wilson and ultimately left the tying run on third in the seventh as Kylie Harpman escaped with the win.
Harpman (16-7) went the distance allowing seven runs with five strikeouts. Mines combined three pitchers with starter
Cassidy Chvatal going three innings allowing three runs,
Sadriena Rodriguez pitching the fourth and one out in the fifth, and
Taylor Wayne (3-5) ending up with the decision entering in the fifth and finishing the game.
GAME 2 - REGIS 7, COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES 5
As was the case all series, Regis and Mines traded the lead multiple times as the Rangers won the finale 7-5 in another game with no lack of offense.
Kayleigh Krueger homered in a 2-for-4 game while
Lauren Decker was 3-for-3 and
Grace Gonzales 2-for-3 to produce a dozen Oredigger hits. Regis compiled 13 hits as the first four batters in their order all had multi-hit games.
This time it was Mines that led early with a four-run third inning before Regis had to again come back for the win. The Orediggers' third was started by Wilson's double to bring Decker across before Krueger hit a two-run no-doubter, and
Kailey Robb's sharp single off the pitcher scored
Trystin Oshiro-Sano later in the inning.
Regis' comeback started with a solo home run by Raper in the fourth before busting the game open with a four-run fifth keyed by Martinez's two-run double. Mines tied the game back up on Gonzales' RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, but the Rangers went back up 7-5 on an RBI single from Case and an error. Mines again had a chance in the bottom of the seventh with
Hannah Roberts stranded after a leadoff double as Kylie Harpman relieved Megan Loveland to earn the save with two straight outs.
Decker (3-7) was solid in the early innings and saved runs with her defense, including a fantastic snag of a comeback liner to end the second with a runner on third.
Cassidy Chvatal pitched the last 2-2 innings with three strikeouts. Regis starter Abby Covington departed in the third after allowing three runs; Loveland (5-6) earned the win in 4.1 innings of work with Harpman picking up her first save facing two batters in the seventh.
