The 2022 Mines Athletics Auction and Hall of Fame will take place Oct. 8 at Lockridge Arena. Tickets are now on sale at minesathletics.com/auction.

A decorated golfer who led Colorado School of Mines to unprecedented team success, Michael Lee will be posthumously inducted to the Mines Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2022.

Lee captained the Orediggers and earned PING All-America honors in 2013, and is the only player in program history to be a four-time PING All-Region selection. The two-time RMAC Player of the Year won four events over his career and was a part of Mines' lineup on their 2012 NCAA Championships qualifying team when they finished a best-ever 11th nationally. The Orediggers qualified for the NCAA super regional championships in all four of Lee's seasons.

Among his numerous individual accolades, Lee spent part of the 2012-13 season ranked #1 in NCAA Division II by Golfstat, and went on to tie the program record low round of 65 as a senior. He holds a program-record 17 top-10 career finishes in 32 starts, including 11 top-fives, as he shot a 73.4 career average. Lee was a four-time all-RMAC selection including first-team status as a junior and senior. He also had an accomplished amateur golf career outside of Mines, including winning the 111th CGA Match Play tournament in 2011, and he represented Colorado on the Junior America's Cup team in 2009.

A native of Greeley, Lee graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering in 2014 and was a production engineer for Anadarko in Denver until his passing in December of 2020.

The Colorado golf community continues to honor Lee's legacy in many ways. The Colorado Golf Association dedicated its 2021 tournament season to Lee, and the CGA Match Play champion's medal is now named in his honor. The Mike Lee Memorial Tournament has been established at Greeley Country Club to benefit the Michael Ray Lee Foundation, and it has already raised more than $250,000 to benefit charitable activities related to scholarship and golf in Colorado. The Lee family has also established a captain's scholarship for the golf team at Mines, and in the winter of 2022, the Orediggers' indoor training facility was renamed in Lee's honor
