2022 AVCA DII Coaches' Poll
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team appeared at #14 in the first American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches' Poll of the regular season.
Â
Mines' ranking follows a 3-1 opening weekend at the Oredigger Volleyball Classic presented by Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott. The Orediggers swept Western Colorado and Northern State on their opening day of 2022 followed by a four-set loss to then #22 Southwest Minnesota State and a sweep of #19 UT Tyler. Southwest Minnesota State jumped to #13 after a 4-0 weekend in Golden while UT Tyler dropped out of the top-25.
Â
While the ranking does mark a three-spot drop from the preseason poll, it does keep Mines the second-ranked team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as MSU Denver maintained its standing at #4. Fellow RMAC member and Oredigger Classic participant Colorado Mesa jumped into the national ranking at #24. Other notable teams on the AVCA's first national list of the regular season include #17 Gannon and #22 Hillsdale, both of which Mines will face this coming weekend at the Hillsdale Charger "Net Results" Invitational in Michigan. Defending NCAA Division II National Champion Tampa remained #1 in the nation.
Â
As stated above, the Orediggers' next action will be an invitational this weekend hosted by Hillsdale in Michigan. Mines opens on Friday against Missouri S&T and Ferris State. Head Coach
Jamie Magalei's squad closes the trip Saturday against #17 Gannon and #22 Hillsdale. Live stats and video will be linked at www.minesathletics.com.
