Koehler's Late Goal Gives #17 Mines 3-3 Draw

DENVER, Colo. - #17 Colorado School of Mines came back three times with Katie Koehler's 88th-minute goal salvaging a 3-3 draw at MSU Denver on Sunday.

The Orediggers (6-1-2, 3-0-1 RMAC) never led in the match, trading goals the entire way with the Roadrunners (5-2-3, 1-1-2 RMAC) in a see-saw battle. All three Mines goals came in the second half as Jordan Barnhart and Paola Rubi brought their side back level before Koehler's late equalizer earned the point.

After an uneventful opening half hour, Mines had a flurry of chances late in the first half on a string of corners, but the Roadrunners found the match's first goal against the run of play on Elli Zimmer's 30-yard blast in the 41st minute.

The Orediggers came out halftime break and immediately leveled the match with Landry Corbett's long throw bouncing into the box for Barnhart to finish 1:56 into the period. Less than two minutes later, however, the Roadrunners went back ahead as Elisa Dean's end-line cross was one-timed in the air by Brooklyn Gold for the 2-1 lead.

Rubi's terrific goal on the hour brought the Orediggers back level at 2-2; Rubi took possession at the top of the box and bounced off a defender to rifle a left-footed shot over the goalkeeper's head. The Roadrunners took the lead yet again with Paloma Teran's goal in the 71st minute, but Mines had one more push left in them in the closing minutes. A poor clearance in the box landed right at Koehler's feet in the 88th minute, and she fired a deflected shot to the lower left corner to tie the game at 3-3.
