D2football.com Poll
GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines football remains #1 in the national polls this week ahead of a top-10 battle to determine the top spot in the RMAC.
The Orediggers are #1 for a second consecutive week in both the AFCA and D2football.com polls after defeating Black Hills State, 42-17, to move to 8-0. Western Colorado, this week's opponent and also 8-0, move up to #9 in the AFCA and #13 in the D2football.com polls; this weekend's game will mark the third AFCA top-10 opponent Mines has faced this season. Mines received 28 of 29 first-place votes in the AFCA poll, with #6 Slippery Rock getting the other.
There was a top-10 shakeup with the losses of Minnesota State and Delta State; the AFCA top five is now Mines, Pitt State, Grand Valley State, Harding, and Benedict, with D2football.com putting Grand Valley State, Pitt State, Ferris State, and Harding behind Mines, in that order. Ranked teams within Super Region IV, other than Mines and Western Colorado, include #12/10 Augustana, #15/13 Minnesota State, #22/19 UT-Permian Basin, and both Minnesota-Duluth and Central Washington, which are each ranked #25 in the AFCA and D2football polls, respectively.
Mines hosts Western Colorado in a sold-out meeting of unbeaten teams Saturday at noon, live on the RMAC Network and Local3.
