COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for women's soccer Tuesday afternoon saw the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer duo of
Reese McDermott and
Natalie Rouse earn Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.
It is the second weekly award for McDermott in her career, who earned her first honor nearly two full calendar years ag on October 5 of 2019, while Rouse collects her third career honor, all of which have come this season.
McDermott put together a massive weekend that vaulted her into a tie atop the RMAC leaderboard in scoring, as she posted four goals, including two game-winners, in the two matches this weekend for Mines, including the second hat trick of her career Friday night against Black Hills State, something she accomplished in just 36 minutes of action. She scored goals in the seventh, 27th and 48th minutes against the Yellow Jackets, finishing the night with six shots, four of which were on goal in an 8-0 win. Sunday against Regis, she put Mines ahead in the 49th minute with her seventh goal of the season as the Orediggers went on to a 3-1 win, finishing with two shots, both of which were on goal in 63 minutes.
Rouse scored her fourth goal of the season Friday night against Black Hills State, finishing off a corner kick from
Landry Corbett with a header in the ninth minute for the second goal of the night in the high-scoring shutout win, playing 65 minutes before subbing off for the first time all season. Sunday against Regis after Mines went down early, she led the defense to close out the afternoon with 86 shutout minutes to end the match, limiting the visitors to just nine total shots on the day, of which only three were on goal to hand the Rangers their first RMAC loss of the season.
Mines is back at home this weekend at host Fort Lewis and Western Colorado on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon.
