Day Four Results | Final Results

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.
– Multiple program records fell and additional NCAA-qualifying times were posted by the Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams on Saturday during the final day of the TYR CMU Invitational hosted by Colorado Mesa.

Luca Burns, Savannah Karas, Annie Osmun, and Scott Reeder were responsible for the highlights. Burns blazed to a 1:48.69 in the 200-back which was good enough for fourth place in the evening finals and a NCAA "B" time. Karas flew in the 200-fly. Her finals time of 2:06.05 broke the program record previously held by Erin Taggart by 0.8 seconds. It also took more than four seconds off her prelims time and put Karas' name on the NCAA "B" list. Osmun had the other program record, coming in the 100-free. After a NCAA "B" time in prelims, Osmun touched the wall at 51.00 in finals. That broke the previous record of 51.40 set by teammate Jorie Selig. It was also 1.04 seconds faster than her prelims time making it her second NCAA-qualifying swim of the day. Reeder rounded out the highlights with a NCAA "B" time of 16.18.13 in the 1650-free. He took eighth overall.

Scoring was aplenty elsewhere for the Orediggers as well. Joseph Lev-Tov, Jake Sherman, and Andres Saa all stacked points in the 1650-free. Then, Garrett Waite scored in the 200-back before Braden Hunt, Seth Krause, Kevin Burns, and Jakson Winn made it a massive 100-free for Mines' men. The 200-breast proved big for the Oredigger women as Cameryn Schmidt, Jordan Tierney, and Olivia Kisow all appeared in the evening session. The same event was equally big for the men with Jack Engler, Gavin Gilmore, Joe Hutchinson, Ronan Lauinger, and Gavin Moore all tallying points. The 200-fly rounded out the individual events. Jaron O'Grady, Max Waring, Mattie Oberley, and Lucas Hoke scored there. Both Mines' men and women had 400-freestyle relays score points as well.

After four days of swimming, the Oredigger women totaled 369 team points. That proved good enough for fourth out of seven teams. They finished behind nationally-ranked Colorado Mesa as well as NCAA Division I programs in Wyoming in Northern Arizona. Mines' men finished with 696 points. That put them third out of five teams with nationally-ranked CMU and NCAA Division I Wyoming in front of them.

Mines now takes a break from competition. They return to the pool on January 5 in a dual at the University of Denver. First gun is currently slated for 2 p.m. A full preview and any live coverage information will be released the week leading up to the event.
