COLORADO SPRINGS - Colorado School of Mines safety Will Ramsey has been named the RMAC's Summit Award winner for football for holding the highest GPA on the conference champion team.

Ramsey is a sophomore computer science major with a 4.0 GPA from Argyle, Texas. The program's Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year in 2022, Ramsey has been an impactful player in 2023 in his first season on the field at safety, compiling 21 total tackles with half a tackle for loss and an interception as part of one of the nation's best defenses.

The Summit Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA), participating at the finals sites for each of the RMAC championships, or in the case of football, from the conference champion or from among any teams tied for the championship. Student-athletes must have played in at least 20 percent of a team's contests to be eligible.

Ramsey is the fourth consecutive Oredigger to win the award, joining current teammates Zach Heckman (2022) and Ben Fuchs (2021), and former Mines receiver Tristan Smith (2019).

Mines (11-0) won the outright RMAC title with a perfect 9-0 conference record. The Orediggers open up the postseason Saturday, hosting Augustana in the NCAA Second Round at noon.
