GOLDEN, Colo. -
A bevy of personal bests and a pair of NCAA provisional times highlighted Day 2 at the Mines Alumni Classic, held at Steinhauer Fieldhouse, while Loic Scomparin added to Division II history in Boston on Saturday.

IN BOSTON
At the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University, Loic Scomparin ran a collegiate all-conditions best 5K of 13:29.35 to set the third-fastest time in NCAA Division II history. Running in an elite group of D-I and pro runners, Scomparin was less than a second off of former teammate Dillon Powell's program record of 13:28.46, which was broken in the meet; still, Orediggers now account for four of the five fastest indoor 5K times with Powell, Scomparin, Powell again, and Kyle Moran. The time moves Scomparin to #2 on the Mines all-time list.

IN GOLDEN
At the Mines Alumni Classic, the men were led on the track by an event win from Elijah Quinby, who crossed first in the 400m in a new personal-best time of 51.86. Garrett Halbrooks ran 6.95 in the 60m dash, just three ticks off his collegiate best, and Coulton Chan made the 60m hurdles finals to finish sixth in 8.32 after running 8.38 in prelims; Quinby clocked 8.60 for 11th. The men's 5,000m saw three Oredigger entrants as Max Bonenberger was second in 15:01.01, running together with Dawson Gunn (15:01.39) and Braden Struhs fifth at 15:24.45); both Bonenberger and Gunn set NCAA provisional times with their finishes.

The weight throw had Brody Welch place ninth at a PR of 15.62m, two spots ahead of Davin Kiesby (15.19m) with Franklin Rambo 17th (12.99m).

In her debut at the distance, Avery Wright ran a 7.74 60m prelim, slotting her in as the third-fastest sprinter in program history with the Orediggers' fastest 60 since 2011. Wright would also run 9.10 in the 60m hurdles, while Grace Galvin ran 8.16 as well in the 60. Imani Fernandez-Gorbea won the 800m in 2:20.65, her new collegiate best, and Avary Catching clocked 59.98 for third in the 400m to wrap up a successful day on the track.

All three Orediggers in the weight throw hit new collegiate bests led by Kitt Rupar's ninth-place 15.41m, with Jennifer Jarnagin 13th (14.54m) and Abbi Gillespie 16th (12.98m). For Rupar, it marked a more than meter improvement over her previous best, and she moves to sixth on the Mines all-time list. The women's high jump had both Claire Kintzley and Lexye Wood clear 1.59m for sixth and seventh, respectively.
