GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – On the first full day of the RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships, the Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams found their biggest highlights in the 200-IM prelims.

Overall, three Oredigger women and eight Oredigger men punched their tickets to the evening finals in the first event of the day. The morning also featured prelims in the 50-free and early finals of the 1000-free. Mines had six individuals advance to finals in the sprints as well.

Finals in the 200-IM, 50-free, fast heat of the 1000-free, and the 200-medley relays will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening and
stream live on the RMAC Network.

200-IM
The first event on Wednesday morning was the prelims for the 200-IM and the Oredigger women opened the day with a splash.
Annie Osmun earned the #3 seed for the evening session with
Jordan Tierney and
Olivia Kisow joining her in the "A" finals. Osmun touched in 2:06.67 while Tierney and Kisow touched in 2:09.04 and 2:09.70, respectively.

Mines' men followed the lead of the women and combined to punch five total tickets to the "A" and "B" finals of their 200-IM.
Garrett Waite hammered out a NCAA-qualifying time of 1:51.43, just off his program-record, NCAA time from earlier this season. That was good enough for the #3 seed in the evening.
Charles Burroughs made his plans to join Waite in the "A" finals after producing a 1:52.34 to finish #6.
Gavin Moore grabbed the last spot in the "A" finals by touching the wall in 1:52.62. Then,
Braden Whitmarsh and
Gavin Gilmore earned their chance to score team points by advancing to the "B" ginals in 1:53.42 and 1:54.59, respectively.

Ava Burger, and
Claire Lautman for the women.
Jack Engler, raced for the men with
Max Waring,
Nick Delany, and
Joe Hutchinson doing an exhibition in the event.

50-FREESTYLE
In the women's spring,
Jorie Selig came up big with a 24.10 which gave her the #5 seed in the top final for the evening, giving her a shot at a podium, a medal, and a RMAC title.
Cameryn Schmidt also earned a spot in the "B" finals. She raced a 24.56 to take the #10 seed.
Emma Neuroth found herself in a swim-off for #16 after an initial preliminary race of 24.72. She improved that to 24.60 in the swim-off, but came just short of the "B" finals.
Kerrigan Hemp,
Emi Jedryka, and
Savannah Karas also sprinted for Mines.

On the men's side,
Jakson Winn,
Seth Krause,
Sam LaPrade, and
Michael Kietzman filled up have the "B" finals. Winn's preliminary time was 20.82 with Krause posting a 20.87. LaPrade paced out at 21.03 while Kietzman finished in 21.09.
Braden Hunt (21.30) and
Luca Burns (21.50) put themselves on the bubble at #17 and #18 to round out the Oredigger field in the event.

1000-FREESTYLE
Mines' participation in the morning edition of the distance race was all in exhibition for the men.
Mattie Oberley posted a 9:53.62 which would have been good enough for #16 in finals.
Josh Lee also provided a time of 10:17.78. The evening finals heats will feature
Meghan Slowey,
Isabella Bono, and
Maggie Wells in the women's race.
Ronan Lauinger,
Jake Sherman,
Jaron O'Grady,
Andres Saa and
Scott Reeder will chase gold for the men.
