Mines Sends Off Seniors With Win Over #23 Chadron St.

2/9/2023 9:59:00 PM

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines wrestling celebrated Senior Night with a home victory, taking down #23 Chadron State 26-18 thanks to three bonus-point victories.

Mines (11-2, 5-2 RMAC) finish their dual season tying the program record for wins in a season, wrapping things up on a high note after yet another come-from-behind win. Chadron State (7-7, 2-4 RMAC) led 9-0 at the start and 12-8 through the halfway points of the dual, but Tristin David's overtime win at 165 sparked a four-match run for the Orediggers that included pins by Ryan Cody and Anderson Salisbury.

The Orediggers sent their seniors off in style, honoring Tyler Krause, Teague Dilbeck, Dylan Yancey, Carter Noehre, Jack Damenti, KJ Kearns, Levi Farris, Salisbury, and Anthony Atria plus 2022 graduate Perry Rodenbeck before the meet. The seniors delivered on the mat, with Dilbeck, Farris, and Salisbury all picking up key wins and Yancey winning an exhibition bout.

Mines was behind after two matches with Christian Lopez being forced to default after an injury at 125 pounds, and #2 Quen Campbell defeating Tyler Krause 5-0 despite some solid defensive wrestling by Krause. Grayston DiBlasi got the Orediggers on the board with a dominating 15-0 technical fall over Skyler Geier-Dodson at 141, and Teague Dilbeck edged Brandon Paredes 4-3 at 149, never leading in the bout until riding time was applied after Dilbeck escaped in the second to tie it 3-3 then rode out the third period.

Brody Lamb outlasted Carter Noehre 11-9 at 157, but things quickly turned after the match of the night at 165 pounds between David and Preston Renner. David never led in regulation, falling behind on an early takedown but eventually riding out the third period to cancel riding time and drawing two stall points to force sudden victory; in overtime, David was the aggressor and it paid off with a takedown deep in the extra period to win 4-2.

Levi Farris then came from behind to win 9-5 on a third-period near-fall four at 174 pounds, and Ryan Cody reversed Keegan Gehlhausen into a second-period pin to blow the dual open at 20-12. Salisbury sealed the win with his own pin at 4:40 of his 197-pound bout, leading 14-1 at the time, and CSC finished with a victory as Mason Watt pinned Deandre Rucker in 1:50.
