OREDIGGERS VISIT ARIZONA FOR TOURNAMENT TWINBILL
Coming off their best outing of the year, Colorado School of Mines is set to play two tournaments over a five-day span in Goodyear, Ariz. this week as the Orediggers host a new event, the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout at the Golf Club of Estrella on Friday and Saturday, and then play in the RJGA Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday. The Hot Dirt Desert Shootout will start play at 7:30 a.m. MST on Friday with 36 holes on the day, and then have tee times starting at 9:30 a.m. MST for Saturday's final round; the Palm Valley Classic's schedule is to be determined.Â
THE LINEUP
Mines will have two teams on the course in both tournaments, with a scoring lineup of
Lukas Taggart,
Ethan Adam,
Jake Welch,
Max Lange, and
Carter Lolli. Mines' B team will play as individuals with
Theodore Reitter,
Owen Cornmesser,
Connor Downey, and
Jonathan Trigg.Â
THE FORECAST
It's Arizona in early spring, which means ideal golfing conditions with highs in the 70s and sunshine for the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout, and then the same for the Palm Valley Classic but with windy conditions forecast on Monday.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Mines pushed to its best finish of the year on March 21, finishing second at the Southern Colorado Masters in Pueblo. Mines shot its two best team rounds of the season at 279 and 276 on the first day and ultimately finished -7.
Lukas Taggart was the individual runner-up, carding 67-66-74 to get to -6, while
Ethan Adam recorded his first career top-10 in sixth at -1.
Jake Welch finished tied for tenth at well at even par, with
Max Lange finishing T16 and
Theodore Reitter T23. Taggart's second-round 66 marked the lowest score by an Oredigger since 2019.
LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will be done with the regular season and look ahead to the RMAC Championships at Boulder Creek GC in Nevada on April 23-25.Â

Finished T18 at the SoCo Masters playing as an individual … That marked his best collegiate finish … Shot a career-low 68 in the second round.
